lol wut?
you wanna throw axes and swords?
that's just stupid
as if someone can throw a big melee weapon like an Icy Dragon Sword (lol imagine that flying around to an enemy) or a Fiery Blade axe
it's unlogical
keep the realism a bit in: daggers can be easily thrown due to their small size and good aerodynamics
but a sword?
so soon i'll have to be worried i'll have a Forgotten sword flying straight to my head?

Divine flavor? Does that make your food taste heavenly or something?

Back on topic, no notsigned, a warrior throwing away weapons makes for a dmgless warrior. A dmgless warrior is a useless warrior imo, and if you really want to throw a weapon at someone, just make a paragon.

/notsigned. A good idea to implement the Conan the barbarian aspect into guildwars, it would be nice. But the above comments on swords not being daggers wins me over. What throw range would they have if you were to implement it? Less than spears that are designed to be thrown? And would the warrior still have their weapon, and/or suffer from weakness for performing such a feat?

First I am not going to flame the OP. It was a good idea, due to the large number of fantasy books, movies and even other games where you can such a thing. And some of it, esp the hammer attack, sounds cool. BUT, I dont see it happening here. Esp since GW1 will be getting nothing major ever again.

To all the retards talking about 1337 |\/|Y 9ui1d is please hit your self in the head with a hammer. NO ONE CARES. No one believes you. If you need your e-pen stroked go back to DL pics of Aria giovanni, and get off of here. If you have nothing useful to say about the post. such as

/not signed it makes the war useless as he has no weapon for the X amount of time after using skill

or

/signed I like this idea alot

STFU.

Again to the OP /notsigned but a cool idea anyway.

The worst part of this idea is that thrown weapons indeed would be skills, and would be up for use for other professions since there are really no "Available to X Primary Only" skills, PvE skills aside.

Imagine the RA ele's throwing their wands....

/Not Signed, terribad idea.

Getting this back on topic, there will never be any warrior skills added to Guild Wars 1. Well, actually there are going to be no more skills added whatsoever to the game or any new content for that matter. You can read Gaile's comments and she pretty much confirmed that the entire ANet team is focused on GW2 and has no intention of doing anything new except skill balances, adding in DAW skins, and possibly Year 3 miniatures.

If you want to unbalance the game even further, then the best way to do it is to give warriors skills that allow them to somehow "throw" their weapons. Warriors have some huge damage potential and heavy armor, so one of the intentional weaknesses of warriors is that they have to run up to enemies point-blank and attack them. As a result, there are plenty of skills that counter warriors because of this, like Throw Dirt or even Imagined Burden.

So even if warriors could get skills like you described, ANet would probably implement them in a way that they would be barely usable. They would have to be weak (terrible damage, extremely slow recharge time) or everybody would switch over to these skills as many warrior counters, like crippling condition or slowing hexes, would effectively be negated. In my opinion, if ANet is going to implement trash skills that have little to no purpose, then I would rather that they not have them at all.

If you were to try throwing something like a Fellblade, you might be able to have an effective and accurate range of about 10 feet, maybe.

3. Although warriors may be super strong and such, they aren't magical (unless they go /Caster or something, but I'm just talking about warriors here). Any human being, hell, anything on earth, couldn't take an object, swing it to the ground, and cause the earth to crack. Except maybe Sandshrew with his Fissure attack. (yay pokemon)
Who says warriors NEED to be melee fighters? And one skill to liven up a weapon's skill line would definitely not imbalance gameplay. make it 8 adrenaline or something...not like you're going to be spamming it with dragon slash...otherwise it would just be melee anyway. Make it as a last-ditch killing blow thing, or a lead-in attack on an enemy that you're going to be running up to anyway to recover the weapon.

If my warrior could swing her 6 foot long fellblade as fast and as often as she can swing a short sword, why can't she throw it? And who says it has to have longbow range (to make a point)?

#3: again, earthshaker. Focus that earth-shattering power into a single direction and I'm sure it'll be enough to open a fissure. Hell, my real self with a 20 lb sledgehammer can turn a chunk of granite into rubble...what's to say a fictional fantasy game character with training and a 50 pound chunk of steel can't do something even more amazing? You're trying to apply realism to a fantasy RPG game. And you fail horribly because of it.

What about a dervish throwing a scythe? And then it boomerangs back? [sarcasm]

It goes way off what the concept of the Guild Wars warrior is supposed to be. The warrior should be in the frontlines. If s/he isn't, then they are not doing their job. And the hammer ranged attack sounds kinda overpowered. Earthshaker doesn't have that much range.

No, but it KD's every enemy IN range..maybe a single-target ranged KD with some damage?

I'm not expecting it to be made...but it's nice to dream.

Again...a single ranged weapon throw attack will NOT pull a warrior back from the frontline. Again, I'd liken it to a surprise lead-in attack meant to disrupt a target's preparation for the coming storm. It would be an interesting counter to blinding flash/surge.

Actually I like the idea of a throwing axe (req x axe mastery) and throwing daggers or darts (req x dagger mastery). Not in the form of skills but as a weapon, just like the paragon uses his spear. If needed with a lower dmg output.
